WHITE WILLOW BARK EXTRACT - A HEALING MIRACLE FROM NATURE
White Willow Bark Extract (Salix Alba)
Willow bark usage dates to the time of Hippocrates (400 BC) when patients chewed on the bark to reduce inflammation and fevers. Aspirin (Salicylic Acid), an over-the-counter drug we are all well aware of, was compounded from Salix Alba in the 1800's.
Willow bark has been revered and utilized throughout the centuries in China and Europe, and continues to be used for the treatment of pain right up to today!
Combined with Salix Alba's powerful anti-inflammatory plant compounds (called flavonoids), Salicin is responsible for the pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties we are all familiar with. What many people don't know is that Salix Alba is also a a potent Antiseptic, which aids in wound healing, due to increased cellular turnover, as well as a natural Astringent and a highly effective, yet very gentle exfoliant, making it perfect for sensitive skin that cannot handle more aggressive forms of exfoliation.
WHAT CAN SALIX ALBA DO FOR YOUR SKIN?
Anti-inflammatory & Astringent:
The Tannins in White Willow Bark are responsible for its excellent Astringent properties, which are similar to those in Green Tea Extract. Tannins are a rich source of Anti-Oxidants, which reduces redness and inflammation and promotes healing.
Willow bark contains salicylic acid, derived from salicin, which helps to fight acne and is an all natural, gentle exfoliant. White willow bark helps to exfoliate your skin by sloughing off dead skin cells, making way for fresh, bright and radiant skin.
Cleansing and Oil Production Balance:
White Willow bark is one of the best botanicals for helping control sebum production and for unclogging blocked pores.
Great for all Skin types:
Every skin type can benefit by using products with White Willow Bark as part of their daily Skin Care Regimen. Oily skin benefits from it's oil controlling and astringent properties, while Dry skin benefits from it's gentle exfoliation properties. And even though Salix Alba is a powerful botanical, it is still gentle enough for even the most sensitive of skins. What's not to love?
